Briefing paper on Archiving and Preservation of E-journals

A beiefing paper from the JISC explains the main issues related to the preservation responsibility of e-journals and the differences between Perpetual access, archiving and long-term preservation. It also looks at the role of legal deposit and institutional and open access repositories. The briefing paper in addition examines a number of currently available e-journal archiving options, including LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Portico and PubMed Central.
